Six of Alexandria Technical & Community College's top anglers traveled to Okeechobee, Florida, to compete in the 2026 Strike King Bassmaster College Series at Lake Okeechobee, a tournament featuring more than 200 teams from across the nation. Representing Alexandria at one of the highest levels of collegiate bass fishing, these student‑athletes demonstrated grit and resilience against an elite field on one of America's most storied fisheries.
In the days leading up to competition, the team showed strong potential on the water. As the coaching staff shared:
"The guys have done great in pre-fishing the past few days, catching some really nice bass. Over the past day and a half though there has been a big cold front moving across the state. Hopefully the fish the guys found will continue to cooperate on game day."
The cold front that swept across Florida dramatically shifted fish behavior, presenting a challenge not only to Alexandria's anglers but to top collegiate programs nationwide.

- Ryan Wiener & Max Meyer — 43rd place
- Bennett Gapinski & Trey Visser — 124th place
- Jack Myers & Mason Qualey — 183rd place
These placements underscore the team's ability to compete alongside some of the strongest programs in the country while representing Alexandria Technical & Community College with pride.
A Highly Competitive Field
The tournament was topped by standout performances such as Peyton Dunn & Luke McGuffin of Emmanuel University, who secured first place with a two‑day total of 32 pounds, 14 ounces. Their winning performance highlights the level of competition Alexandria faced on Lake Okeechobee.
