Gentele Named MCAC North Division Player of the Year
An outstanding season has earned one of our own the conference's top individual honor.
The accolades continue to roll in for standout volleyball player Aspen Gentele, who has been named the MCAC North Division Player of the Year. The prestigious honor caps off an exceptional season in which Gentele dominated on both sides of the net and cemented her legacy in program history.
Gentele's season statistics tell the story of a complete player who impacted every aspect of the game. She led the team with 238 kills while maintaining an impressive 2.19 attack percentage. Her defensive prowess was equally remarkable, recording 160 digs and 46 total blocks. She also contributed 19 assists and 24 ace serves, showcasing her well-rounded skill set.
Beyond this season's achievements, Gentele leaves behind a lasting mark on the program. She finishes her career ranked second all-time in kills with 442, trailing only last year's standout Meagan Winters, who concluded her career with 490 kills.
Head Coach Jason Smith praised Gentele's impact on the court and her deserving recognition. "Aspen being voted as Player of the Year speaks volumes to the type of player she is, which is why I am not surprised that she received this honor," Smith said. "With her play, she made it difficult for teams to defend our other players because so much attention was directed to her. There isn't anything she can't do on the floor. I'm glad she was in red/black. We wish her the absolute best as she continues her volleyball career at the next level!"
Congratulations to Aspen Gentele on this well-deserved honor and best of luck as she takes her talents to the next level of competition.
