Smith Earns MCAC North Division Coach of the Year Honors
A remarkable debut season has earned Jason Smith the MCAC North Division Coach of the Year award.
In his first year at the helm of the Legends volleyball program, Smith guided the team to a 19-8 overall record, a significant improvement from the previous season. More impressively, he led the Legends to an 11-1 conference record, securing the Conference Championship in his inaugural campaign.
Smith's impact extended beyond wins and losses. Under his leadership, the program saw unprecedented individual success, with three players earning first-team All-MCAC honors, one selected to the second team All-MCAC, two players named to the All-Region 13 team, and one chosen for the Region 13B tournament team.
When asked about the honor, Smith was quick to deflect credit to those around him. "I am deeply honored to be voted Coach of the Year! I give all the credit to my team and Assistant Coaches; without their hard work and commitment this year, our team wouldn't be in this position," Smith said. "I was fortunate enough to have 6 amazing young ladies return from last year's team and buy into this new process of what Legend volleyball could be. Adding the right Freshman class to the mix put us on the right path."
Smith emphasized that team success remains his top priority. "No award is more important to me than our team's success. I'm sad to see our sophomore class move on, but I'm excited for what next season will bring."
Congratulations to Coach Jason Smith on this well-deserved recognition of an outstanding first season.
